Today – this index … Phew !!!

Daily blogging is a huge commitment and well done you on the solid month of blogging. At the beginning of the year, I took on a challenge to blog every day for 365 days in celebration of my 50th Birthday year. http://1961girl.wordpress.com/
After nearly 60 daily posts, I finally threw in the towel by the end of Feb as the blogging process had begun to take over my life…and I had a new business to get off the ground!
Did I regret taking on the challenge and did I feel a failure for not completing the task?
No way.
I learnt vast amounts about how to work with WordPress software – invaluable now my new website has been built on a WordPress platform.
I learnt how to build up a loyal band of followers.
I’ve made many wonderful and supportive ‘blogging buddies’ who still keep in touch.
I’ve learnt about the discipline of writing…and what ‘writers block’ really means!
I got a real ‘buzz’ from teaching myself ‘how to do it’, as I knew nothing about how to create a blog, or write a post before throwing myself in at the deep end!
And the icing on the cake – after just a month of blogging – was having my blog featured on the ‘Freshly Pressed’ WordPress site resulting in over 3,500 hits in less than 24 hours – truly amazing – and what a cause for celebration!
And even though I’ve only written one post on my personal blog in the last few months, I still receive loads of comments (over 1,000 to date) and hits are now up to 10,000. Quite incredible and I am still amazed – and humbled – at the success I’ve enjoyed.
Now all I have to do is repeat this success with the blog on my new website…which is proving to be more challenging as I am beginning to think that in general, people prefer to follow ‘personal’ blogs as opposed to blogs contained within a website. I’m sure that Tom will have some advice on this topic.
I look forward to reading of others experiences.
Best wishes,

Wow Julie – your 365 days puts my 30 days into context – well done you. Could that blog be built into a book?
