The latest interview in the Moments of Lights series of podcasts is with Eddie Yu, author of a new book called Speedlights and Elephants.
At a surface level you might take it as yet another book on how to make a million online perhaps making claims that worked for the author but are out of reach for normal mortals. You might cynically think it’s said author’s attempt to make that million for themselves.
Well you’d be wrong on both counts – Eddie’s approach is a breath of fresh air. He is wise well beyond his years and has tuned into two factors that make the difference between failure and success for any business or initiative.
They are our mindset and having a meta-strategy

After speaking to Eddie, it made me think about my own meta-strategies and that, although I have them, I haven’t communicated or shared them with anyone but close friends.
So I’d like to try an experiment and publically state them here and also send out a call for action which is threefold:
1. Declare your meta-strategy – either in a comment in this blog or elsewhere
2. If you think I can help you with yours, let me know
3. If you think you can help me with mine, let me know
My meta-strategies
To show the world how to tap into unlimited inspiration
To help people how to embrace fears and fulfill their magnificence
To be an instrumental part of the transition from Humanity v2.0 to Humanity v3.0
Hello Tom,
Our meta-strategy is to help people learn language using their unconscious mind.
To help people realise the amazing capabilities they have deep down inside their unconscious mind and show them how to access it.
To help people to remember that learning new things is a life long process that will enrich them.
Bye bye
The English Sisters
Now that is one unstoppable strategy !!!
Hello Tom
My meta-strategy is to help people embrace the winds of change in an ever changing world without fear by helping them understand that the language they use creates their emotions, behaviours and ultimately their results.
To continue to be a part of the global movement of conscious and creative living that connects us all and make this a better world for future generations.
To help people love and live their lives wholeheartedly.
Again this is an unstoppable strategy – what resources do you need to help you in this wonder-full goal?
I love it, I thought about a small distinction which differentiates a meta strategy from a vision statement. A vision statement is something which you want to happen in the future, but you don’t necessarily know how it will be achieved and you don’t even have perhaps a high level strategy to get there.
A meta-strategy is almost a vision statement, however it has a clear high level strategy that you can chunk down into workable targets.
So for example in the interview I speak about my meta-strategy of building a world without offices (www.worldwithoutoffices.com) and the first part of that strategy is to educate and implement and that is done through a number of media channels and companies, the latest being Intevirtual.
This is what I mean, having a vision, but also having enough of a meta-strategy to understand how to get there.
Even more wonderful insights Eddie. I’ve always thought people and companies should have Listening and Feeling Statements as well as Vision Statements !!!
My Meta-Strategy is to create freedom! Freedom from fear and negative thinking & behaviours, freedom from the internal chains that hold people back and to create freedom of choice and accountibility, to create a free and fulfilling future.
