Sometimes adversity and frustration can get us down. I’ve been holding on to a nagging frustration for more years than is healthy. It festered into being quite annoying recently last moonth. Something had to be done.
So I resigned myself to cosmic forces and gave up pushing water uphill and then idea came along in the hypnopompic space, on the morning the clocks went back giving that other hour.
The idea was so wondrous and sublimely brilliant that I now do not want to give any energy to the events that led to this amazing opportunity, apart from to thank them for their nudge and guidance.
It is one of those ideas that is so obvious that you wonder why you didn’t think of it before.
As shared in this blog, for the last two moonths, I have been working on launching a much revamped version of my course to help authors get their books to flow through them. The first moonth was one of review and trying out a platform that just wasn’t up to the job. The second moonth was one of creation of new assets and a revised structure using the platform I am now running with.
I just love Thinkific.
So it’s with great pleasure and pride that I can announce that from today, this November’s New Moon, my new course Channeling for Authors is ready to accept prospective authors. I am releasing it for a launch price for the foreseeable future, which is even better value now due to the revelation that came my way.
For nearly 20 years now, I have been writing and publishing books, recording audiobooks and generating many assets to go with them, such as interviews, videos, meditations and, most recently, ambient music.
It dawned on me that all of these wondrous creations are spread across many platforms like Amazon, Audible and, most recently, Insight Timer. None of these platforms though allow me to mix and consolidate media types. All the assets associated with each book are hard even for me to find and share. I’ve also created a few innovative ways to share the books in a way I have never done before.
So along with the launch of Channeling for Authors, I am really chuffed to have appended a bonus section called Töm’s Tomes, plus another module on my channelings of the future. This is a single repository, full of esoteric and metaphysical explorations, which forms a considerable and ever expanding archive. It gives new authors loads of examples of how a book can be structured. It’s a celebration too of a creative spark that shows no signs of abating.
So, as well as the channeled books themselves, thanks to Thinkific’s support for multiple media types, you can find associated interviews, explanatory videos and all sorts of other treats and goodies – all in one place. To deepen your appreciation of the course materials, you will be able to see many examples of channeled writing, as well as the ancillary assets we as authors can generate to augment the reader and listener experience … and market our books.
Its curation got be out of a fug and inspired me greatly on the run up to this New Moon and my hope and aim is that it collation similarly inspires and ‘edutains’ you as an author and creator. All legacies start with one book and all books start with one word.
p.p.s. I’ve also published a free module for the Adytum which shares some techniques of how to deal with dis-ease.
p.p.s. as mentioned, this whole inspiration arrived in the hypnopompic state last weekend when we had another hour in bed. It was in this state that the whole of the first chapter, and premise, of Time Restored arrived. To similarly inspire you, let me share a meditation called Hypnopompia Extended to help you access the transition consciousness …
… and a guided meditation and co-creation with Ada and Nathan Ketchie (Wakes) called Awaken from the Awakened Dream

Vicki Wusche is already the author of three best-selling books on property investment. She explains how she came to publish her fourth book – The New Estate: Insights from the 22nd Century
“Now I first met Tom Evans was at a networking group I joined back in 2007. Shortly after I attended one of his book writing workshops. I have always wanted to write a book. My first books then followed primarily as a way to promote my business. They gave me a way to share the answers to questions I was being repeatedly asked – namely how I got started in property investment and how I have grown my business.
Early in March this year, I phoned Tom, as I occasionally do, for a chat. As we spoke, I explained that the first quarter of 2015 had lacked my normal focus and clear determination. He invited me over for a session and an opportunity to see if he could help me gain some more clarity.
When I left after three hours I had not only more clarity, but the outline and publishing strategy for a new book. A story. A major departure from my normal style or content.
Emerging from our session came The New Estate – a story about the future. It is a story about how we can change the future. A story of hope, and I hope inspiration.
Surprisingly, Tom not only helped me gain clarity in my business, but a better sense of a new direction that I was looking for personally. Even more than that, because of his experience as an accomplished author in his own right, Tom understood how the speed and power self-publishing process could help me get to where I was going in ‘no time at all’.
Tom suggested that rather than publishing this story through my existing publisher, I could create a wave and movement with more momentum with indie publishing. From the first conversation with Tom, the writing of the book, its editing and design, through to its appearance on the Kindle store took just five weeks.
Along the way, I found an easier way to write. I discovered that there are no (writers) blocks but just learnings. As a result of using Tom’s methodologies, the book literally just flowed as if I was taking dictation.
Time itself took on an ethereal quality. I would sit down to write and the next thing I knew, another 3000 words had popped out. I could not stop the words flowing once I’d truly connected to my Muse.
Everything just arrived perfectly formed. As a result, I now know that The New Estate : Insights from the 22nd Century, will play a key role in developing my business. At the same time, it will broaden my speaking profile to being one of a divergent thinker, thought leader and inspiration to business owners.”
When I first came across the idea of channelling, like most people I thought it was to do with connecting with the recently departed. Accordingly, when someone told me that I must have channelled my first book, I took it with a pinch of salt.
Just a few years later, I not only channel daily but I find myself teaching other authors how and why to do it.
Channelling is not a special gift, we all can do it but for many reasons it has been suppressed and sometimes is treated with derision in our society. Fortunately, the word has entered popular culture, with many pop and film stars saying that they channelled their performances.
Virtually all the literary greats will testify that they did not know where their Muse exactly came from but allude to it being external to them.
We also have this gift innately but somehow lose it. For example, seeing a child immersed in a drawing reminds me of the famous Picasso quote …
“All children are artists. The problem is how to remain an artist once we grow up.”
By learning to channel, we can get back to this child-like state of awe and wonder, but with all the experience and wisdom we’ve amassed over our life times.
Passive vs Active Channelling
I found out there are two types of channelling. Passive channelling is where people let themselves be taken over. When this happens, sometimes the literary output tends to be a bit repetitive, and quite often frankly a bit dull.
When you actively channel, all that happens is that your conscious mind gets out of the loop and you silence your inner critic. You don’t lose control from directing the flow, shape or semantics of the work. You just get ‘in the zone’.
What’s more, you come out with stuff that you amaze yourself with, both from the perspective of quality and the level and detail of information that you didn’t know you knew. This applies equally well to musicians and artists as it does to writers. I’ve lost count of the time when writing where I’ve got access to information that I could not have possibly known which latterly I’ve discovered was true.
So what are you channelling?
Again the common misconception is that we channel recently departed spirits and indeed some people do. More commonly people channel their guides and some say they channel Ascended Masters, angels and archangels. I’ve worked with authors who channel elementals like fairies and others that channel the Sun, Earth, Moon and stars. Again, whether this is all true or not is down to one’s personal belief. As it happens, my favourite theory is that we channel our future selves who of course we strongly morphically resonate with.
Now I don’t doubt this is what people are experiencing but I feel this is likely to be more personal intepretation than fact. What is more likely to be happening is that we are connecting with levels of consciousness that we struggle to explain in our language and three dimensional reality so they end up with names that sound a bit far out. Also, sometimes when people lay claim to channelling x, y or z, all too often, ego sneaks in to play and common sense goes out of the window. Two elements that are not overly healthy in the creative writing process.
Note that some people claim that, “It must be true as they channelled it”.
I prefer to say, “I channelled this so please take it with a pinch of salt but I hope it either proves useful or entertaining.”
I am agnostic about who is channelling what exactly and prefer to focus on the output. What seems to work a treat in this regard is not channelling randonly but giving whatever source is feeding you with information to a structure. In my ecourses and workshops, I use Mind Maps. They have the added bonus of bypassing that inner critic by busying the left hemisphere so the right can be holistic.
It’s worth noting that you are also not limited to channelling the words (or images or sounds). You can also ‘channel’ or conjure up the perfect publisher, sales and marketing contacts, speaking engagements and your readership.
So how do you go about it?
Regular meditative practice is the key. This doesn’t mean sitting cross legged on the floor for an hour chanting “Om”. A good walk so long as you primarily look up is good enough. There are also some great Meditation Machines you can buy nowadays.
Undertaking a yoga, Pilates, Tai Chi or Qi Gong class is also a great way to immerse yourself in the state that is ideal for channelling.
Nowadays, in a busy world, a good entry point to channelling is learning How to Quieten Your Mind
If you have ever been stuck in front of your computer with words not flowing, there’s a good bet it’s your head that’s in the way.
When we allow our conscious mind to take a back seat, a certain magic unfolds – we get in flow and become what is known as ‘a channel’.
Next Thursday the 8th November at 7pm GMT, I’m honoured to be taking part in the Writing from Your Heart series of teleseminars with Eileen Parr.
I’ll be lifting the lid on what channelling is, and isn’t, and how it’s not about talking to the “Dear Departed” – it’s a natural process we all do from time to time. When we learn to do it under volition, our creativity and productivity soars.
