The Point of No Return

The Point of No Return

We are well into the house refurbishment now. Walls are demolished, floor ripped up, 200 tonnes of soil removed for new parking area and piles driven 6 metres into the ground to support the new 1st floor extension where it meets the garden.

So, we cannot go back. We are temporarily in rented accommodation until the end of Spring and will then spend Summer in our motorhome. We are well passed the point of no return and have no option but complete the build.

For some this would be a scary place to be. Apart from anything, there’s a considerable amount of investment required and the classic wanting to be back in before the winter sets in.

Lady Luck however seems to be on our side. The short term rental property was an amazing stroke of luck. There are not many places available that are happy to have two dogs and where you can park a motorhome and two cars.

Our builders seem to know what they are doing and are hitting all the deadlines. Problems like getting steels past high voltage overhead electricity lines are being dealt with.

Going passed the point of no return needs more than having deep enough pockets and a large amount of patience. It requires that we trust. This is not trust in a our main contractor or the plumber. It is about trusting the Universe that all of this is part of a bigger plan. This is the karmic plan we signed up for before incarnating. Demolishing and rebuilding a house that is more energy efficient is only of any worth if living in such a place means even more of the karmic plan can be fulfilled.

Part of this is the wisdom and higher perspective that is gained by upsetting the apple cart, living in a new place and meeting new people. Having temporarily decimated a home, it means our place of bliss has been removed. When we eventually get back in, we will appreciate it even more.

In the meantime, in the limbo place from which we cannot go backwards, much adventure can be had. We have a moho and plan to use it. For example, we are a stone’s throw from Stonehenge and have discovered we can park there for free overnight and see the sun rise over the stones.

So what is the real point of ‘the point of no return’?

It is when the realisation dawns that going back and regressing to old ways and patterns serves no purpose. The learnings are not forgotten but embraced, appreciated and integrated. This opens the door to new potentialities and possibilities.

When a new sun comes up, a new day begins, the past becomes a thing of the past and we rise to a bright new future … to help with the ‘returning’ process, treat yourself to an hour of reflection listening to my longest guided meditation, The Paths of Return.

What’s It Like Living Timefully?

Me TimeThis year, I have launched a philanthropic initiative to share the Living Timefully resources with people with life shortening conditions.

It’s with great pleasure that I am able to share (anonymously) the feedback from one of the first people who took the program under this scheme.

If you know someone who could benefit, they can apply for complementary access here …

1. How did you come across Living Timefully?

Through Lea Woodward who gave me the link to your free Be Calm meditation. Then from there I got to learn and discover more about your work.

2. What did you hope to gain from taking the course?

To reduce or try to handle my stress better. After using the Be Calm meditation, I felt it could be most helpful with handling my stress. That is when you started generously offering the Living Timefully program to people who like me need help to handle the little time they have. It felt like really timely indeed.

3. What did you learn from taking it?

I learned a lot about myself and my relationship with time. Starting with discovering and putting on paper where time goes was a life changing exercise, literally!

It has allowed me to see and come to terms with different aspects of my life as it is today, that were previously blocking me from moving forward with my life and projects or that were keeping me in the same loop.

I have confirmed something I knew yet did not know about the past, future and present. With the meditation from the Future Time week, I was able to actually get messages in and from time that have proved really useful.

4. What was your favourite take away?

Would you believe before your Be Calm meditation, I was not much of a meditation kind of person? I had tried meditating in the past but was never able to get deep with it. That free introductory meditation really made a difference.

Second the feeling that the threatening pressure of time has greatly receded in my life.

5. How would you describe it to somebody if you only had 30 seconds in an elevator

It is an online program over 10 weeks, every week you receive access the videos and audios giving you a greater outlook on life as we see it. You gently, slowly get to realise there is not only more to life than meet the eye there is deeper, higher, wider and then more too. It is a soft, gentle, step by step journey that releases its effect over time as you build the routine in your life. It is very practical with manageable steps everyone can apply and enjoy.

New Magic for a New Era

New Magic for a New Era

I had the real honour at the end of last year of being interviewed by Lilou Mace on GaiamTV.

At the time, I had no idea what the interview would be about, what I would say and certainly how it would be entitled.

When it was first broadcast it was a bit of a wake up call for me and a reminder that I had so much to share that was hidden either in my head, buried in my heart or stuck on my hard drive.

You can watch the interview here to get an idea of what magic awaits you …

It's lead me to repackaging and relaunching my eLearning courses and workshops and to redesign them to bring magic into your world. If you are fed up pushing water uphill, these programmes will show you how to go with the flow and how to lead a charmed life.

Check them out here

… and in turn, this has lead me to writing a book about it all which is coming out early in 2015.

Three Artists with Soul

August has been quite a month for the Moments of Light Radio show on The Barefoot Broadcast.

You can’t plan this sort of thing, it just happened but my three guests are all wonderful artists with three different takes on art and spirituality that touches the soul at a fundamental level.

In case you missed them, you can listen to the shows again here … your comments, thoughts and social media shares much appreciated.

Note that the show will be off air now until the end of September as I have a much needed break and it will be returning in a new guise when I’m back … more on that soon. In the meantime, enjoy.

They need no introduction as the recordings speak for themselves 😉

Karmic Rights Management

I am often asked by both new and experienced authors how you go about protecting your books in the digital age.

In these days when you can blog a story or submit an ebook direct to the Amazon Kindle Store, the Apple iBookstore or to one of many aggregator sites like Issuu, Lulu, BookBuzzr and Smashwords, what’s to stop anyone stealing and copying your work illegally?

If you submit your novel to a author community site like Authonomy, what’s to stop someone stealing your idea and writing their own book on the subject?

Well if you think about it … not a lot and it’s not much different from how it has been since Caxton invented the printing press.

If you produce a printed book, there is nothing to stop anyone photocopying it. How many times have you borrowed a book and read it and not paid the author or the publisher a penny? How many times did you not give it back?

For digital products, you can add password and enable DRM protection but there is nothing to stop someone telling someone else the password. Even if the digital rights management is tied down to a particular device as it is for Kindles, iPhones and iPads, there is nothing to stop people other than the purchaser enjoying the work.

I am sure when you write your book, you didn’t do it in isolation of any influences from other authors, friends, colleagues or teachers.

By far the best way by far to protect your work is to look at your behaviour and modify it so it’s karmically balanced.

Now I am not trying to preach here or be holier than thou – this is just good common sense and politeness and I too have fallen foul of not playing by the karmic rule book.

My seven top tips for karmic rights protection

1. Don’t run the fear your work will be copied

2. If you use a quote or concept from another writer, give them some credit in a Thanks section of your work or, at least, list their book in references

3. Be open to your payback coming back in another form other than the sale of your books

4. Don’t steal another writer’s work

5. If you like a book you borrowed, buy a copy or buy another book from the same writer

6. Give loads of stuff away for free

7. Be thankful for everything you receive
